  5.   This README file contains important information about Qmodem v4.6
  6.   Test-Drive.
  7.  
  8.   Version 4.6 contains only cosmetic fixes to correct spelling and
  9.   contact information for Mustang Software Inc.  It is otherwise
  10.   identical to v4.52.

  13.   INSTALLATION
  14.   ------------
  15.  
  16.   Qmodem TD comes in various forms, depending on where you received your 
  17.   copy.
  18.   
  19.   If you are reading this from within the INSTALL process you have
  20.   already completed installation and extraction of the program files.
  21.  
  22.   If you're reading this text outside of INSTALL you may have 
  23.   received it from a BBS system, and it most likely it came in the 
  24.   form of one or two large ZIP files with names like QM45TD.ZIP. Inside 
  25.   the ZIP files are the 2 separate 360K disks that have been ZIP'd into 
  26.   their own ZIP file. You should have also received the INSTALL.EXE program 
  27.   which extracts the ZIP files into a harddisk subdirectory as desired. 
  28.   Simply run INSTALL to perform the installation.
  29.   
  30.   Upgrading:
  31.   ----------

  33.   If you are upgrading from a prior release, you may need to run a 
  34.   conversion program.
  35.   
  36.   Version 3.x users must first run 3XTO40.EXE then followed by 4XTO45.EXE
  37.   Version 4.0 to 4.2 can be converted by running the program 4XTO45.EXE
  38.  
  39.   A conversion program is included that converts phone directories from 
  40.   several other communications packages to Qmodem format. It you have 
  41.   directories from Telix v3.12/3.15, Procomm Plus v1.x/2.x or Boyan 5.0 
  42.   you can run the program QMFONCVT.EXE to create duplicate directories 
  43.   in Qmodem format.

  47.   HOW TO GET HELP
  48.   ---------------

  50.   If you have any problems, help is available from the following sources:

  52.   1. Check the Mustang HQ BBS at 805-873-2400.  Leave a comment to our
  53.      Sysop for help or check the QMODEM file and message areas.
  54.  
  55.   2. Visit the MSI support forum on CompuServe by typing GO PCVENA and 
  56.      then change to section 9.
  57.  
  58.   3. Type QMODEM on the GEnie Information Service for instant access to the
  59.      Qmodem forums with their libraries of technical information and answers
  60.      to common questions.
  61.  
  62.   4. If you have an urgent problem that cannot wait you may call Tech 
  63.      Support at 805-873-2550 Monday through Friday between the hours of
  64.      9:00am and 5:00pm pacific time.  Please have the following information 
  65.      ready before calling:

  67.      a. Product version number.  The version number for Qmodem is displayed
  68.         when you run the program.
  69.  
  70.      b. Computer brand, model, and the brands and model numbers of any
  71.         additional hardware.
  72.  
  73.      c. Operating system and version number.  The version number can be
  74.         determined by typing VER at the DOS prompt.

  76.      d. Contents of your AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files.

  79.   INSTRUCTIONS ON PRINTING THE QMODEM MANUAL
  80.   ------------------------------------------

  82.   The Install program copied the QMODEMTD.DOC file your Qmodem startup 
  83.   directory.  If you want to print this file, type PRINT QMODEMTD.DOC at 
  84.   your Dos prompt.  Or, you can use the Dos COPY QMODEMTD.DOC PRN command.
